ALOHA!
The Road to Hana is one of the classic things to do when you go to Maui.
For most people, it’s an all-day thing.
It can be a long day, and the best way to plan the Road to Hana is to have an idea of a few priority things you want to do (see the Road to Hana map below!), and then also add in time to stop off at random places that look good to you as you’re driving!

π There are tons of things to do on the Road to Hana! See below for an interactive map of things to do along the Hana Highway!

There are tons of things to do on the Road to Hana. This includes waterfalls, hikes, quick stops, long stops, food stops, lava fields, beaches, and tons of scenic views!
To plan your Road to Hana day, I’ve created a google map below that includes some things you can do on your own, which is based on the one week I spent doing things along the Hana Highway!
With a week along the Hana Highway, I’ve had a chance to see a ton of things, which means I can give you ideas for tons of things!
But, I also get that having too many choices can be overwhelming! So be sure to also see my Road to Hana section in my post about the best things to do in Maui!
You can drive the Road to Hana on your own which will give you more flexibility,Β or if you want to leave the all-day driving to someone else, you can do a Road to Hana day trip tour.
If you are doing the Road to Hana on your own, then you will want to download the Shaka guide before you go!
Look for the cheapest car rental prices.
If you are on a Sunday cruise ship arrival, here is your Road to Hana cruise excursion.

If you want to do things differently (and not just make it a day trip like most others), then your must-stay hotel is the Hana Maui resort.
At the Waianapanapa State Park in Hana, there are also cabins and a campground that you can stay at. I’ve stayed in the cabins and have been tent camping here.
I’ve also been camping on the Hana side (aka Kipahulu district) of Haleakala National Park at the Kipahulu campground. It is an amazing environment to be camping with ocean views!
You can go to both the summit district and Kipahulu district of Haleakala National Park with the same national park entry fee, as long as you go within 3 days. (Or, buy an annual pass if you’ll be going more than 3 days apart!)

Now, here is the interactive google map of the Road to Hana that I created!
This includes some of the best things to do in Maui.
π How to use this map: Click on the top left icon for a list of what’s on the map! Or, just start clicking the icons on the map! Some of the icons have more details and pictures that will take you to another blog of mine, so click to expand! If the map isn’t loading well for you, you can also open it directly in google maps. If you click through on mobile: After clicking on a little icon, the name of the activity will show up. Click on that name, and you’ll see more details I’ve included!
